Immunoassays

Working to enhance vaccine evaluation tools

MVI is working to enhance the ability of laboratory tools, including immunoassays, to properly evaluate the potential of new vaccine candidates.

Our activities include:

  • Supporting the expansion of the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Service Center at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). The upgrade of this facility to an ELISA Global Reference Center is meant to provide the global malaria vaccine community with standardized and highly reproducible analyses of vaccine-induced antibody levels, comparative assessments of vaccine candidates, and assay development. To learn more, read the ELISA fact sheet (29 KB PDF).
  • Continuing support of the Growth Inhibition Assay (GIA) Reference Center at the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health. To learn more, read the GIA fact sheet (30 KB PDF).

Samples may be submitted for evaluation from the wider malaria community.
